The John Marshall Law School’s Veterans Legal Support Center and Clinic was recently featured in AIA Chicago’s Chicago Architect magazine in “Safe Zone: New Veterans Center Incorporates PTSD-Friendly Design”. The article highlights how the new clinic’s design seeks to remediate building-related features that may trigger Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms in veterans. “…designing with a sensitivity to PTSD involves contemplating the nuances of dozens of small and large details. For instance, some veterans feel more secure in enclosed spaces while others prefer to be in open spaces where they can readily spot any approaching danger. For that reason, the clinic has two interview rooms: One is partitioned with frosted glass, and the other looks out onto the street.”
