Having weathered multiple generations of renovations, the 1st Floor and Lower Level public spaces of 444 N. Michigan Avenue were visually fragmented, and functionally difficult to use. Grislkelis Young Harrell worked in concert with the property’s Owner / Management Team to establish a strong design approach and Master Plan to create a congruent, vibrant, welcoming 1st Floor and Lower Level Lobby experience.
Griskelis Young Harrell worked closely with Cushman & Wakefield and the property Owner to design an Upper and Lower Lobby renovation Master Plan which unifies the existing Lobbies into one cohesive experience. The Master Plan “opens up” both Lobbies by demolishing extraneous partitions. Existing stone floors and wood paneling are retained and incorporated into the new design. The design palette is expanded to include stone and terrazzo floors, stainless steel finishes, frameless glass partitions, specialty lighting and terrazzo planters. The exterior entrance to the Lower Lobby was redesigned for greater visibility, accessibility, security and protection from the weather.
