Designed for a family of two adults and four young children on a wooded, .6-acre lot, the building is positioned on the site preserving its many mature trees. A 7,200 s.f. program brought together issues as diverse as an indoor batting cage for a son; privacy needs for daughters; and features for parents to “age in place”. “Aging in place” needs were addressed by using Universal Design principles for the Office and adjacent bath to function as a Master Suite on the first floor in the future.
Room volumes were sculpted in concert with windows allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the building. The mechanical system employs a state-of-art “VAV” system to zone the house’s heating and cooling. Radiant hydronic tubing keeps the Basement and Garage floors warm to the touch. The Campobasso Residence integrates the varied needs of the family into a classic, substantial, homey environment.
