UIC Law – Collaboration Commons

The John Marshall Law School, now UIC Law, saw a need for more student-focused collaboration space within its tightly-bound, urban campus. Griskelis Young Harrell was called in to re-purpose and entire floor of underutilized library stack space into and new series of 2-, 4-, and 6- person meeting rooms, open meeting space, and interactive lounge areas. Each space has direct access to floor-to-ceiling whiteboard writing walls. The floor is open-plan to take advantage of abundant natural light, but spaces are divided into usable zones by pods of enclosed meeting rooms. All-new lighting highlights the fresh finishes and collaborative booth and informal lounge furniture.
